The Athens County Historical Society and Museum works to collect, preserve, and display Athens County’s past and heritage. They strive to promote the study, interpretation, and understanding of the history of Athens County and its people. The museum has over 40,000 items in its collection and also houses a library of local genealogy and history. There is truly a wealth of knowledge here - and many friendly volunteers waiting to help.

Getting There is Half the Adventure!
The Athens County Museum is located on North Court Street in Uptown Athens. Take US Route 33 to the State Route 682 exit. At the light, turn right onto Richland Ave. Keep going straight. Richland Ave will veer to the right and turn into President Street. At the light, turn left onto Court Street. The museum will be on the left hand side. Metered parking is available along the street.
