Leo Petroglyph State Memorial

The Adventure…

The Leo Petroglyph is an outstanding example of prehistoric Native American inscriptions from nearly 1000 years ago. The site hosts 37 incised drawings preserved for future generations. The drawings of humans, animals, and footprints are carved in sandstone. The memorial also features a scenic trail that winds through the sandstone gorge.

Getting there’s Half the Adventure…

Leo Petroglyph is near the village of Leo, five miles northwest of Jackson, in Jackson County. Turn off of US Route 35 on Sour Run Road/County Road 28, then left in Leo on Park Road/Township Road 224.
