Burr Oak State Park
The Adventure...
Quiet and remote Burr Oak State Park and the surrounding area has rustic country charm unlike any other with its rolling wooded hills and valley farms. Nestled in the Appalachian foothills, the park is a prime example of Southeast Ohio’s “wild side.” Miles of forested ridge tops and hollows is home to white-tailed deer, ruffed grouse, box turtles, and the elusive wild turkey. In the autumn the forest is painted by spectacular fall colors as the leaves turn deep reds, brilliant yellows, and burnt oranges. In the spring the warmer weather is welcomed by an impressive display of violets, trillium, and rare orchids. Ten miles of day hiking trails and 18 miles of backpacking trails - including a portion of the Buckeye Trail - enable visitors to explore the many wonders of this state park up close. Swimming, boating, and fishing are enjoyed by many at the 664-acre lake. Burr Oak State Park has 100 campsites, 30 family cottages, a modern lodge, and a conference center making it the perfect weekend getaway destination, reunion location, or conference site.
