Coal Miner's Block Quilt Barn

Picture

The Adventure...

This pattern, which was designed by John W. Lefelhocz, was created to honor the coal miners and the coal mining towns of the late 1800s and early 1900s. The arrival of the railroad to the Hocking Valley in the 1870s led to major development in the region as thousands of people rushed to the area in hopes to find new opportunities. Many small towns popped up as a result and became know as the Little Cities of Black Diomonds. The barn is owned by Ron and Karen Wend. Rocky Outdoor Gear Store sponsored the project and the Little Cities of Black Diamonds Organization painted to block.
