Miner's Memorial Park

Picture

The Adventure...

Part of the AEP ReCreation Land, this small park in southeastern Ohio's coal mining region honors the contributions coal mining and miners have made to the area. A mammoth 220-cubic-yard, 240-ton bucket from AEP's Big Muskie - the world's largest walking dragline - is the park's centerpiece. The Bucket weighs 460,000 pounds empty and when loaded carried an additional 640,000 pounds. Its volume is equal to that of a 12 car garage. Park visitors can walk inside the Big Muskie bucket and read about coal mining and its economic contributions to the area.
