State of Ohio Block Quilt Barn

Picture

The Adventure...

There was a time when each state "claimed" a block to represent themselfs. Although they were developed much earlier as part of the centennial celebrations, the state blocks became quite popular in the 1930s. The State of Ohio Block features a prominent star in the center surrounded by a pattern that repersents the buckeye leaf of the state tree. The barn is owned by Paul and Mae Bircher. The project was sponsored by Make a Difference Day Ohio and painted by the Glouster Project.
